Arivazhagan has a Bachelor's Degree in Technology and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from IIM Kolkata. He joined HDFC in 1986 and in 2022 he superannuated from HDFC Ltd as the Member of Executive Management, Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer. He was also a member of the Risk Management committee of HDFC Ltd and member of Business Continuity Management committee and Head of the Information Systems Security committee. He was also responsible for Information technology of the group companies HDFC Asset Management Company and HDFC Sales Ltd. He was a core member of initial team setting of HDFC Life Ltd and HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company Ltd.
