With over 30 years of experience in integrated watershed management, natural resource management and climate-resilient rural development, Jayant Patil is a seasoned development professional who has successfully led and advised large-scale government and CSR-supported watershed programs across Maharashtra and other Indian states. He brings together technical, institutional and policy-level expertise to strengthen program design, implementation and evaluation. As Senior Advisor (Monitoring) with the Vasundhara Watershed Development Agency (VWDA), he played a pivotal role in developing the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Documentation (MELD) framework under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), strengthening project monitoring systems across 1,100 projects in 34 districts. He has contributed to several flagship initiatives, including the Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan, Marathwada Watershed Mission and the Neeranchal Project (World Bank-aided). His expertise spans impact assessment, participatory planning and GIS-based analysis using indices such as NDVI, NDWI and NSMI for tracking ecological and livelihood outcomes. He has provided strategic and technical advisory services to leading CSR foundations and multilateral agencies such as HDFC Bank Parivartan, John Deere Foundation, Atlas Copco India, Bajaj Auto, NABARD, UNICEF and the Department of Land Resources (Government of India). A recognized trainer, facilitator and author, he has conducted numerous workshops and contributed to publications on participatory watershed management, water budgeting and climate adaptation.
